The much hyped Anna canteens to be started by AP CM Chandrababu Naidu on the lines of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s Amma canteens in Chennai is all set to be kick started.
This initiative is being spearheaded in the right way. Sources say that for breakfast Idly, Ragi Sankati with Neella pappu and chutney (curries) would be the menu while sambar rice, pulihora and curd rice in lunch along with two chapathis, vegetables and dal curry would be served during dinner at the Anna canteens.
These would be reportedly launched across 35 centres in the state soon. Tiffin and meal would be reportedly served at cheaper rates at the 35 canteens which are expected to be opened in four places in the state.
This week Civil supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha and IT minister Palle Raghunath Reddy have reportedly finalized the menu for Anna canteens. Ms Sunitha announced that these menu would be served at the NTR canteens at government hospitals, railway stations APSRTC bus stand and bus stand premises!
Chennai. MET officials say that currently, it’s in the form of a deep depression that could intensify into a cyclone. The cyclone is likely to have its landfall between Nagapattinam and Nellore (South Andhra Pradesh) by Tuesday evening. Already Chennai is witnessing rains and the MET department has forecast heavy rain in the region. A holiday has been issued for schools and colleges in Chennai, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Kanchepuram districts and Union Territory of Puducherry on account of heavy rain being forecasted.
Fishermen in Nagapattinam, Chennai and Puducherry have been asked to not venture into the sea.
A bus carrying around 60 passengers suddenly fell from Gemini flyover in Chennai on Wednesday, injuring 30 passengers. The incident took place on the flyover on arterial Anna Salai. The driver of the state-owned Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus was taking a blind turn and it slipped and fell down.
The traffic has been hit following accident on the flyover. The injured have been admitted to a nearby government hospital. The bus was travelling between Parry’s Corner and Vadapalani area in the city.
