Yet again another ghastly incident has taken place, this time in the heart of India’s financial capital. A woman photographer, aged 22, working for Mumbai magazine was gang-raped by five men in a stranded mill in popular Mahalakshmi area of the city on yesterday evening.
At around 6pm on Thursday evening, the 22 yr old lady went to Shakti Mills Compound in Mahalaxmi along with her male colleague, to get a photography assignment done. When they were taking photos, on the pretext that they should take permission from Superiors, two of the accused led her into a secluded area while others waited outside. The three others have tied up her colleague with a rope outside, and then all the five took turns to rape her for half an hour, say police sources.
After the gruesome guys fled the spot, the girl found her colleague and untied him, after which he has accompanied her to the nearby Jaslok Hospital, which they reached at 10pm. Before that the victim called her friends and family, and lodged a complaint with police.
The victim is in traumatic condition and also suffered internal injuries due to the incident. She is currently stable and under observation in the ICU.
Police say that she revealed names of two accused as Rupesh and Sajid, as they were calling like that each other during the crime. Maharashtra home minister RR Patil says government has taken serious note of the incident and will do all possible things to nab the culprits.
