One person has died and at least 30 people have sustained injuries in a fire that broke out at Hindustan Petroleum refinery in Visakhapatnam on Friday evening. The injured have been shifted to INS Kalyani and other nearby hospitals in the city.
According to the cops, Fire broke out at 4 pm in a wooden cooling tower at the government-owned oil refinery where few of the private workers have been taking part in the welding work. The fire has been brought under control within few hours after fire fighting tenders from all over the city were brought into service but the cause of the accident is not yet known. Tension prevailed in the nearby places for sometime as thick layer of smile unglued the area.
Visakha plant is said to be one of the two Hindustan Petroleum refineries in India. The other plant has been located in Mumbai.
