With Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy quitting CM post, MLA membership, Congress party membership and bluntly turning down to continue as caretaker CM, now all eyes are on what’s going to happen in Andhra Pradesh. Although, earlier, everyone thought that the State is likely to have President’s rule, latest equations hinting otherwise. Contrary to previous assumptions, not many MLAs of Congress from Seemandhra hasn’t submitted their resignations raising many eye-balls.
The latest buzz is that Congress is seriously contemplating to appoint a new Chief Minister for Andhra Pradesh till the general elections who will be a caretaker CM as well as the last CM of AP. There is a serious race for this post which hardly has two months time. Yet a host of senior Congress leaders from Telangana, Seemandhra are vying for this post.
Ministers Anam Ramnarayan Reddy, Raghuveera Reddy and Kanna Lakshmi Narayana from Seemandhra are vying for the top slot. It’s no wonder even if Congress appoints PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana as caretaker CM. Meanwhile, there is strong competition to the last CM of Andhra Pradesh from Telangana region as well. The leaders in the radar are deputy CM Damodar Rajanarsimha, Ponnala Lakshmiaha and K. Jana Reddy.
Congress high command is contemplating to elevate deputy CM Damodar Rajanarsimha as caretaker CM which is just in nascent phase. Congress general secretary and in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, reportedly claimed that the Congress with 146 MLAs is still the largest party in the AP assembly now. “Why should we go for President rule or for dissolution of the house ?,” he quipped and added, “if Kiran does not want to be he caretaker CM, one of his senior Ministers or even Deputy CM could take his place.”
Meanwhile, buzz also has it that Chiranjeevi’s camp is trying to make Chiru as two-month CM.rn Minister Dokka, MLC C. Ramachandraiaha have intensified their lobbying rnfor the CM post. If all these don’t go well and other Seemandhra rnCongress MLAs quits protesting these moves, then rnPresident rule to come up. In that case, Kiran Kumar Reddy will be the rnlast CM of AP.
When state is being divided arbitrarily and so unilaterally flouting all the norms and rules in rules book by grossly ignoring the grievances of Seemandhra and giving raw-deal to them, leaders of either sides are indulging in politics for positions. This is really a sad state of affairs.
