New Delhi: The two-day high level ‘Samanvay Baithak’ meeting between Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders will take place in the state capital on Sunday amidst speculations that Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP poll panel chief Narendra Modi will be declared as the Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 General Elections.
Modi met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in the state capital on Saturday ahead of the conclave.
“The Sangh has already made its position clear. Sangh has already informed the party. The party knows it. It is for the party to decide who to delare and when to decide so. I will not say this here,” RSS Spokesperson Manmohan Vaidya had said.
Senior BJP leaders like Adavni and Swaraj are unhappy with the anointment of Modi as the party’s PM candidate. However, in the event of Modi being declared as the party’s candidate, Advani and his supporters want the decision to be postponed till the end of the year.
Apart from the party’s prime ministerial candidate, the conclave will have also discuss the situation ahead of the upcoming Assembly Elections in several states. The choice of BJP’s prime ministerial candidate will also be a part of the meeting.
Senior BJP leader LK Adavani, BJP Party president Rajnath Singh, Leaders of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Leaders of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley will attend the meet.
